In class, with our table groups we chose a question to conduct about a swing, and put it through various tests to see the outcome. (We also made the swings to do so.) 2.) Car Data 1.) The big question addressed in lab, and a description of what you did. We talked a lot about how can we support play that is exciting but not dangerous for kids. We were given the task as a group with our tables to specify a question to investigate then identify our independent & dependent variables, take accurate measurements, decide how to organize and present your data/findings, and then to finally make a claim about how our variables are related, and support it with evidence. Which we did with racing cars on two different types of ramps, each time with a different type of car. 2.) A description of what you learned in Thursday's lecture. Methods II- Week 2

1.) The big question addressed in lab, and a description of what you did. We talked about how to ensure a race is exciting, and how to make one exciting. In our table groups we all were given the task to create a race that we would then race against someone else and make it so that both racers cross at about the same time. My group chose to speed walk and we were against someone who was just plainly walking. It was a race down 8m and when they reached 4m that’s when I started to speed walk. Thus, putting us at about the same time at the finish line. (Walking at opposite ends as well.) 2.) A description of what you learned in Thursday's lecture. We touched a lot on different little things, but I remember vividly It being, measuring speed, distance, and time. We talked on how to communicate clearly about motion, we need standard units.   Atoms   M&M Experiment What did you learn this week? This week we took the time to look a lot more into density and why things may be denser than others along with what things impact that and cause it. We discussed atoms and what they may do to impact what we see. We then did experiments with m&ms so see a few different things. 2.) Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? I remember looking and talking about how atoms work in middle school the most. We did little activities and watched videos on it but never one with candy in water like we did today. I did however remember talking about it within my science classes. 3.) How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future? I think using m&ms in school as an experiment is a great way to have the students involved and have fun. Its a very hands on activity with getting it set up and then when you get to observe thats the best part. Its a nice experiment that I think I w...

Lab Supplies Lab Data 1.) What did you learn this week? This week we took the time to dive into more experiments that pushed us to look at conductivity, mass/ volume and measure on our findings. We asked the question "How can we support elementary students in learning about matter and its interactions?" All the little parts to our experiments directly impacted the question being asked and made us think as future teachers how we would answer it, along with our students. Along with this, we also talked on observations and made more notes on that as well. 2.) Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? I remember doing some of these things in elementary. I think mostly in 4th grade since when we had our assessment, we would go around the room and do similar tasks like these to see how we understood it.
