Week 1 Science Methods Blog Post
(1.) What did you learn this week?
This week, I learned about NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) and a little on how to use them. I learned the codes used are ways to understand each standard based on the standard's grade level. We also got to build our dream classrooms with our table partner. I found this to be a really exciting activity!
(2.) Which parts did you find clear and which were confusing?
I found the need for the information to be clear, but found the NGSS site to be more on the confusing side. There are so many codes, and little things to remember that I think that is the only parts which confused me.
(3.) How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?
I think that knowing how to go about topics for teaching and implementing the tools can be a fun way to teach in my future classroom. I want to make sure that I provide the best tools for learning for my students, and know some good techniques that I myself can keep using. Keeping an open mind with NGSS will definitely be on my list of things to use as well.
Hi Alyce!
ReplyDeleteI totally felt the same way about all the codes and definitions this week. It helped me to write out the definitions in my own words to try to keep them all straight, so maybe that would be helpful for you!
You also made a great point about keeping an open mind. I think that'll be important to remember as we learn these new unfamiliar standards!
