5E Inquiry Lesson Plan Rubric

Life Cycle Jamboard Activity

1.) What did you learn this week?

I learned a lot more about the types of life cycles, and the food chains that correspond with them. We talked and looked over our plant progress from the past week, and talked as a class about the lesson plan rubric and how to use them in a classroom. We also moved the chrysalises to the butterfly sanctuary since they will be ready very soon.

2.) Are you able to relate what you know to what you already knew?

I knew some info from my past school years about the life cycle, and food chain but its been so long. So refreshing the information was nice to get an idea on how to better teach it for my future students. So being able to relate that information was a nice understanding for the new information to come.

3.) How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future? 

I think creating activities that really make my students think and have that creativity is the part of the lessons which are the most fun. Having an interactive piece of learning where the students can feel involved and excited to learn is something I learn more and more about with science. Using the techniques and even some of the core lessons that we briefly discussed is some things I think I could apply.

In my post I had also talked about how I had known previous information about the life cycle and food chain from when I was younger but it was definitely really nice to go over this again and it was a good refresher. I also want to create activities that are super fun and engaging to get them excited to learn. Great post!

  2. Hi Alyce! I also remember learning about food chains previously, but it's been a long time for me too to I agree that this was a good refresher. I also think creative and hands on activities are a great way to teach this unit and others as well. I do remember feeling a little confused about this topic when I learned about it before, so I think having a hands on activity may help support those students who also have some confusion.
